PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
As political tensions rise ahead of the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections, a Trinamool Congress worker was murdered in Bharatpur, Murshidabad late Wednesday night. The victim, identified as 55-year-old Shasthi Ghosh, was a resident of Sihala village under Aalu Gram Panchayat.
According to local sources, Ghosh was returning from Sunia village around 10:30 pm when he was attacked near the Mayurakshi river embankment. Unidentified assailants allegedly targeted him during his return, leaving him fatally injured. Police reached the spot soon after receiving the alert and rushed him to Kandi Mahakama Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The motive behind the murder remains under investigation, though early inputs suggest internal factionalism within the party. Several such incidents have occurred in recent months, fueling concerns about growing violence ahead of the elections.
The police have launched an inquiry into the matter and are trying to ascertain whether the murder was politically motivated or driven by local disputes.
